Terms & Conditions
Effective July 20, 2026 · We The People® — Document Preparation Services
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of wethepeopleoffice.com (the "Site") and your purchase of document preparation services from We The People ("We The People," "we," "us"). By using the Site or purchasing services, you agree to these Terms. Services are additionally governed by the written Legal Document Assistant Contract for Self-Help Services (the "LDA Contract") that you will review and sign before services are performed; if these Terms and your signed LDA Contract differ, the signed LDA Contract controls for those services.
1. Who We Are — and What We Are Not
We The People is a registered and bonded Legal Document Assistant (LDA) providing self-help document preparation services at your specific direction, for legal matters in which you are representing yourself. The county clerk has not evaluated or approved our knowledge, experience, or the quality of our work. Free attorney referral services are available at every office if you need legal advice.
2. LDA Registration & Bond
As required by California law, We The People has registered as a Legal Document Assistant and filed a bond or cash deposit in the following counties: Los Angeles County (LDA# 550), Orange County (LDA# 398), San Bernardino County (LDA# 185), and Riverside County (LDA# 179). Registrations are valid through their stated expiration dates and renewed as required. You may verify a registration with the applicable County Clerk — for Los Angeles County: 12400 Imperial Hwy, Norwalk, CA 90650, (800) 201-8999, lavote.net.
3. Scope of Services
The self-help services we can perform, at your specific direction, are: typing or otherwise completing legal documents that you have selected; providing general published factual legal information written or approved by an attorney; providing published legal documents; and filing and serving legal forms and documents as you specifically direct. These are the only kinds of services we can perform. If you require additional services, you require the services of an attorney.
4. Online Orders, Pricing & Payment
Online purchases are processed securely by our payment processor; We The People does not store your full card details. Prices shown on the Site are flat preparation fees for the listed service. After an online purchase, a team member from your selected office will contact you to begin intake, and the statutory LDA Contract will be provided for your review and signature before services are performed.
You are entitled to one (1) free simple change to documents that have already been sent to processing. Significant or additional changes — including additional pages, multiple revisions, or changes based on new information you supply — may incur additional charges, which will be disclosed to you before the work is performed.
5. Cancellations & Refunds
Consistent with California law and our LDA Contract: you may cancel a services contract for any reason within 24 hours after both parties have signed it, and we will promptly refund fees paid, less only fees for services actually, necessarily, and reasonably performed during that period with your knowledge and agreement. Cancellation may be made by delivering written notice to your office, or by first-class mail (effective on the postmark date). After the 24-hour period, cancellation requests are made in person using our Cancellation Form, a charge may apply, and remaining paid fees are issued as store credit applicable toward future or other services.
You may additionally cancel at any time, with a full refund, if we fail to give you a copy of your contract before providing services, fail to specify the services and their costs in the contract, or fail to provide the contract in English and in any other language principally used in the sales presentation — or at any time with legal cause. Upon cancellation, you must return questionnaires, documents, and forms our office provided to you.
6. Your Responsibilities
All services are performed at your direction using information you provide, which we have no obligation to independently verify. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the information you supply. All prepared documents are drafts until you review and approve them; you maintain full authority over, and responsibility for, reviewing them to ensure they reflect your wishes, instructions, and decisions — and we recommend review by your own attorney before signing or use. By purchasing, you represent that you have full authority to order the services, do so of your free will, and that your intended use is lawful and does not violate the rights of others.
7. Electronic Communications
By providing your email address and ordering online, you consent to receive communications related to your services electronically — including workbooks, questionnaires, draft documents, overviews, corrections, applications, and forms. You may withdraw this consent by delivering a written withdrawal to your office by email, fax, mail, or in person.
8. Limitation of Liability & Indemnification
Except as prohibited by law, you agree to hold We The People and its officers, directors, employees, and agents harmless from liabilities arising from rendering services at your direction, and neither party will be liable for indirect, punitive, special, incidental, or consequential damages, however arising. Except as prohibited by law, if liability is found on the part of We The People, it is limited to the amount you paid for the products and/or services. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, in which case they may not apply to you.
9. Dispute Resolution — Binding Arbitration & Class Waiver
Most concerns can be resolved promptly by calling Customer Service at (855) 987-5342. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and We The People each agree to resolve disputes arising out of or relating to the Site, these Terms, the LDA Contract, services rendered, or documents prepared through binding arbitration in Los Angeles County, California, under the Rules and Procedures of the American Arbitration Association, or in small claims court — rather than in a court of general jurisdiction. You and We The People each waive the right to a trial by jury and to participate in a class action. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this provision, which survives termination. Judgment on an arbitration award may be entered in any court of proper jurisdiction in Los Angeles County, California.
10. Governing Law, Venue & Attorney's Fees
These Terms are governed by California law. Venue for any permitted legal action is Los Angeles County, California. In a legal action arising from services or to enforce these provisions, the prevailing party may be awarded reasonable attorney's fees and costs.
11. Intellectual Property & Site Use
We The People® is a registered trademark. The Site and its content are provided for your personal, lawful use in connection with our services; you may not copy, scrape, or reuse Site content, branding, or design without written permission. The Site's general information is not legal advice and may be updated at any time without notice.
12. Consumer Notices
You may obtain information from your local bar association or a legal aid or legal services office regarding free or low-cost representation by a lawyer. You may contact the local police, sheriff, district attorney, or a legal aid office if you believe you are the victim of fraud, the unauthorized practice of law, or other injury. It is a violation of California law for an LDA to make false or misleading statements, to keep your original documents in the circumstances specified by law, or to claim special influence with any court or agency — and we claim none.
13. Changes to These Terms & Contact
We may update these Terms from time to time; the effective date above reflects the latest revision, and continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance. Questions: (855) 987-5342 · info@wethepeopleoffice.com · or any of our 8 Southern California offices.
